Open Positions at DLTSC

Arnold Jager

Dear members,

After the great Hawaiian Beach Party where we celebrated Tennis Head Coach Brian’s 21 years at DLTSC, I now have a request to you. We have 3 open positions at DLTSC and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteer members to fill these:

Social Coordinator
Thank you, Paula for your great contributions as Social Coordinator of the Club for the past years. I know you now need to focus on your other busy activities, so we are looking for a new Social Coordinator. This role coordinates all the social activities of the club as well as supports the catering for other club activities. Main social events are the Christmas Party, Quiz night, and special event celebrations such as this year’s Queen’s Jubilee, and Hawaiian Beach Party and catering is done for club events like Open Day, Grace Finals Day and Club Tournament Finals day.

The primary role of the Social Coordinator is to put together teams of members who organise these events and / or the catering, and then to keep the oversight to ensure that it all happens smoothly. There are many groups and individuals at the Club who are very willing to organise or help out with individual events once or twice a year, so there is plenty of help available. The Board expects the Social Coordinator to be a Director position but this view is open to discussion with the individual.

Junior Chairman
Mags has done a great job organising the junior activities at the Club for 5 years and her junior newsletters are full of enthusiasm. She has indicated that she wants to retire as Junior Chair at the next AGM, so we would like to identify the person to take over this role as soon as possible so we can have a smooth transition. This role works closely with the Tennis and Squash coaching teams to ensure there is a strong programme of junior focused activities. The Club wants to have a vibrant junior section and to provide great opportunities for the youth of Dorking and surrounds to take up tennis, Squash, and Racquet Ball and develop it in either a social or competitive way.

Social Media Communications Manager
With the fast development of social media our Club needs to focus more on social media as a communications tool with our membership. Good communication especially with the younger members and wider audiences can only be successfully achieved through modern use of social media. We are looking for the person who is willing to lead and manage our social media activities. This is a new role, which will work closely with the Coaches, Marketing Director, Club Administrator and Chairman to deliver our communication in a modern way.

If you have interest in any of these roles, or just would like to know more about them, please contact Janet, our Club Administrator or myself, Club Chairman, and we are happy to further discuss these with you. Our Club relies on its volunteers, and if you would like to contribute by taking on one of these open positions, we would appreciate that very much.

Best regards,
Arnold Jager
DLTSC Chairman
