Junior Newsletter - 5th July

Hello everyone,

What a busy week it has been at the club, with lots of junior tennis action.
We had the schools tournament on Wednesday afternoon a week ago (sorry, missed last week’s newsletter deadline!) when most of our local junior schools each entered a couple of teams for the event. It was wonderful to see our club so busy on a school afternoon, when it’s normally really quiet. There was some excellent tennis and really good behaviour from the children. The winners of the tournament were St Martins and North Downs who came joint first.

This previous weekend was also busy at the club, with our mini junior tournament on Friday afternoon and the adult club tournament finals on the Saturday. The junior tournament was a real success with lots of really good tennis being played. Well done to all those who took part and all those who helped out.

Junior Club News
Well done to our U12s for beating local rivals Reigate Manor. Harvey Steer and Dom Farrant played a touch match so huge congratulations to them!

And finally…
Wimbledon Tennis is now taking place and if you are lucky enough to get tickets, enjoy every moment! Some interesting statistics from the 2018 tournament include:

190,900 portions of strawberries were served
111,250 scones were served
16,178 sweatbands were sold
25,472 towels were sold
473,169 people visited the tournament
All I know is some very interesting people get invited to the Royal Box on Centre Court. Including Mary Berry and Matt Dawson. I know because I saw them there. Just saying…

See you Friday at club night!
