Junior Newsletter - 2nd July
I do appreciate that the Club Newsletter came out this week and you may be reaching newsletter saturation point, so I’ll keep this one short. Do please read the Club newsletter though as it covers so much more than what is just going on at the club.
The main purpose of this junior newsletter is to keep our juniors up to date on what is happening at the club for them. Sadly we have not been able to bring our Junior Club Night back this term but we are quietly hoping for a September restart. Hopefully by then court numbers won’t be restricted and our juniors can be welcomed back with open arms and a high five and not just an elbow bump!
One of our juniors did indeed make it to the club tennis tournament finals – Dom Farrant. He played with me in the Plate Mixed Doubles. For those who are unaware, the Plate event runs in a number of events where there are a large number of entrants and enables the first round losers to play against each other. So Dom and I, having been beaten by Brian and Tracey in our first round match, went on to play two further matches in the Plate, to get to the final.
The details of the match and all the other events of last Saturday are in the Club newsletter so do head there to find out the results! I am just so pleased that a junior made it to the final and I would encourage more of our juniors to enter these events. It really doesn’t matter if you lose as you are obviously up against more experienced adults. But given time, the balance will change and the juniors will be beating the adults. Watch this space!!…
In the absence of a Junior Club Night, Brian is organising occasional Sunday camps for juniors. The previous one was a great success and there were calls for more of the same! So, this Sunday 4th July, 2 – 4pm, Brian is running another fun afternoon for our juniors themed Wimbledon Fever. The flyer is attached below. It is a really popular event and non-members can also join in. Get your child’s name down and before you know it, they’ll be in that club tennis tournament showing the adults how tennis is played!
Brian can be contacted on 07712 557076 or by email on email@example.com
Don’t forget, for our squash juniors, the Friday club night has just restarted and is being run by Jeremy, the squash head coach Get in touch and book a space for your child. Drop a line to Jeremy at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like your child to go along.
Have a great week everyone and keep enjoying your racquet sport despite the intermittent rain for us tennis players! Do email me direct if you have any queries regarding juniors on email@example.com. Just please don’t ask why such a good player as Dom Farrant ended up with me in the tournament! I’m old enough to be his mum. Or his mum’s big sister. Or his mum’s big sister’s older friend. Anyway, I’d happily let someone else take my place but there is no-one else so it looks like the awesome duo will continue their bid for match success at the club. Watch out box league entrants!
