Coronavirus Notice - 17th March
The news seems to be all doom and gloom at the moment and it is increasingly hard to keep up to date.
Since sending out information on Friday the Squash Committee and Jeremy have taken the decision to cancel club squash sessions – Friday afternoon/evening, Wednesday morning and Sunday afternoon. Jeremy is very happy coaching one to one sessions, so please contact him if you would like a lesson.
However, tennis is played out of doors.
The club has received the following from Surrey Tennis www.surrey.tennis
Following the announcement from the government on 16th March, we would advise that group coaching sessions and organised tennis activity do not go ahead as of 17th March 2020, until further notice. We will review this advice on a weekly basis. This includes:
ALL GROUP COACHING: junior and adult
ORGANISED SOCIAL SESSIONS
So Friday junior club night, Wednesday & Friday evenings and Sunday morning tennis club sessions will not go ahead with immediate effect. Until further notice, individual lessons are still available, so contact Brian if you would like some coaching.
Having just had my trip to visit my family overseas cancelled, I would like to feel that I can take some small consolation in playing tennis. The exercise combined, with convivial company, will do so much to keep me both physically and mentally fit as opposed to vegetating at home.
I should like to propose that those of us who wish to carry on playing do so whilst taking precautions to protect ourselves as well as others. I would suggest:
- Good hand hygiene: wash hands well after playing, use paper towels to open doors afterwards
- ALWAYS put used cups, plates etc into the dishwasher, our water is NOT HOT enough to kill germs
- Please if the dishwasher is full, run it. If it has run wash your hands and empty it
- Sit in the lovely sunshine to enjoy your coffee etc
I should hate to see us having to shut the club, close off the kitchen or the bar. It is your choice as to whether you wish to play or not and if you do, please respect your fellow members’ health and well-being.
We will be keeping you updated as the situation develops.
This goes to you all with my best wishes and I hope that you and your loved ones keep healthy and happy.
